New Habits

If if you want to know how to start new habits, you have to first understand and accept the reasons for your past failures.

Pretty sure this is not the first time you want to try to adopt new habits. That’s okay. If you failed in the past, it’s not that you are not motivated enough. It’s just that you didn’t understand the concept.

If you want to adopt new habits, it’s because you want an active, better, and healthier lifestyle. You want to understand how to start eating habits, how to start new healthy habits, or even how to start new habits that actually stick, and all of this is completely doable. However, you will need to develop a new mindset.

In this post, you’ll learn all about how to start new habits that you will actually keep.

5 TESTED STEPS TO START NEW HABITS AND STICK TO THEM

The truth is that starting a new habit is the easy part. You are really trying to find out how to keep your habit on point and what it will take for you to stick to it. Sometimes you have all the will in the world, but because you don’t understand the concept of keeping a habit, you don’t stick to it.

STAY FOCUSED

If you want to start a good new habit, be focused. Stay focused on your goal. You must remember what is making you start this new habit in the first place. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What exactly are you trying to change in your life?
  • What will it take for you to act on this new habit every day?
  • What will your life look like after you stick to this new habit?
  • How much better will your life be?
  • Are you trying to build a set of habits to start over in life?

The key is to stay focused. For some reason, our brain doesn’t like change because it is afraid that you might die! So it will protect you from anything you want to change in your life. If you want to create new habits, you will need to get into your head and stay focused.

DO ONE NEW HABIT AT A TIME

This is crucial if you want to stick to a habit and if you want your habits to become routines. You will need to be patient and add one habit at a time. If you try to change everything at once (which is what you’ve been doing all along), you will not stick to your new schedule.

PLAN YOUR HABIT

As we said earlier, it is a battle between you and your brain. You will need to retrain your brain. The great and best way to do this is to have a calendar or planner. Write your daily tasks and add your first new habit.

After 31 days, add a new habit or modify the one you currently have. Keep doing that until you reach the lifestyle you want (this can work for any habits or goals).

REWARD YOURSELF DAILY

Every time you successfully complete your new habit, you must reward yourself. Give that treat to your brain. It should be a meaningful reward and not something that is ephemeral, like food, for example.

DO IT FOR 30 DAYS +1

I tested this, and I approve! If you give up within the first 31 days, you’ll always give up. You’ll need to check yourself and your mindset repeatedly during the day to make that one WINNING decision!

BONUS: THE MOST IMPORTANT IS TO MAKE THE DECISION

Every day you will be confronted with this:

New Habit VS It’s okay if I skip today

Force yourself to do it right away or as soon as you can. If you ponder too much on the decision, you won’t do it. After the 4th day, you’ll probably think it’s okay to skip today. When you think that way, you better check yourself and wake up!

If you skip, it’s done! You will not stick to the habit. Once your brain realizes that you can skip and still be alive, it’s a done deal. It will force you to continue skipping. Get it?

TO WRAP THIS UP…

To wrap this up, if you want to know how to start new habits, well, you actually already know how to start. Remember that it is not how to start it, but how to keep it.

The way you can keep it is all in your mind. It is between you and your mind. You need to build an achiever’s mindset and make the decision every day to pick the habit instead of any other excuses.

This goes for any successes or goals you are trying to reach in life. If you understand this correctly, you might be on the verge of changing your life for the best! Good luck to you!
